Amber is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). Prior to becoming an ND, she completed four years of study to obtain an Honours Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University. In addition to her private practice, Amber was accepted into the competitive Clinical Residency program at CCNM, where she is currently involved in teaching naturopathic therapies to students and supervising fourth year interns at the college's teaching clinics.
Amber is passionate about optimizing health using an individualized and holistic approach that incorporates evidence-based medicine with natural therapies to address the root cause of disease. She is an advocate for patients, employing a collaborative approach with other practitioners, and strongly believes in empowering her patients through health education.
Amber enjoys working with patients with a variety of acute and chronic health concerns, and has a special interest in sports medicine and pain management, skin and digestive concerns, weight loss and mental health. Being an avid athlete herself, Amber enjoys working with individuals and teams to help maximize athletic performance, prevent injury and enhance recovery of the injured athlete. Her lifelong participation in athletics has given Amber a strong knowledge base in many sports including marathon running, hockey (Women's 'AA'), road biking and rugby, and combining this with her extensive sports nutrition training allows her to provide athletes with valuable tools to excel at their sport.
In addition to her clinical training at CCNM, Amber's involvement in the Clinical Residency program has allowed her to obtain additional training with leaders in the field in areas including weight loss, pain management, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. She is currently a supervisor on the Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue focus shift at the Robert Schad Naturopathic Clinic (RSNC), as well as at Sherbourne Health Centre providing care for HIV+ patients. Amber is also a licensed provider of IV therapies and uses this as an adjunctive treatment for certain health concerns.
